’O paese d’ ’o sole in Gauting

On 17 November 2017 at 20:00 invites the Martino Ensemble to a musical journey through the sunny south of Italy into the Ristorante Gennaro (Am Schlosspark 16, 82131 Gauting). The south of Italy, to which the title of this song and concert is dedicated, is considered the center of well-being under the joyful sun. Embark on a musical journey through the sunny south of Italy, the “Mezzogiorno”, and get to know the peculiarities of different regions from Campania to Sicily through songs from these regions. The songs deal with the picturesque landscape, cultural and historical events, the machinations of the mafia and, of course, love.

Concert in the garden of the Burgkloster zu Lübeck

On August 18 of 2017 Gianmarco Martino and his Quartet (Mandoline – Roberto Colantonio, Violoncello – Caroline Metzger, Akkordeon – Susanne Frohriep) will give a concert in the garden of the “Burgkloster” at the “Hansemuseum” in Lübeck. They will perform the most beautiful songs of southern Italy. Apart of wellknown songs from Naples like »I’ te vurria vasà« and the swinging »O’ surdato ‘nammurato« also less famous tunes like »Duje Paraviso« and »Tammuriata nera« and some sicilian songs will be played.

Le due Sicilie

Gianmarco Martino and cellist Caroline Metzger have been invited by Sebastiano Nanè (Friscalettu and flute), Nino Nobile (mandolin), Corrado Confalonieri (accordion) and Damiano D’Amico (contrabass) for a guest appearance in Avola. On 07.06.2017 at 20: 00h this cast plays in the theater of Avola a program, which deals musically with the topic emigration, connection to the homeland, their stories and legends as well as customs and traditions.

O dolce Napoli

On June 15 of 2015 the Martino-Ensemble will give a concert at the Behnhaus in Lübeck. This concert is dedicated to the city and the gulf of Naples. The songs performed originate from the famous repertoire of neapolitan music and will enlighten all aspects of human thinking, feeling and actions. They focus on the landscape, panorama, love, the famous tarantella but also some critical song about the society a.s.o. Apart of wellknown songs from Naples like »Passione«, »I’ te vurria vasà« and the swinging »O’ surdato ‘nammurato« also less famous tunes like »Duje Paraviso« and »Tammuriata nera« will be played.

Amore all’italiana in Hamburg Sasel

On February 27th of 2015 the Martino-Ensemble will give a concert in the Saselhaus in Hamburg. This concert is dedicated to the topic “love”. The songs performed will enlighten all aspects of the life determining feeling: Starting with the falling in love, the inability to sleep, the fear to approach the adored one, the suit under the balcony the bow will lead to attempting to convince beautiful women by music and dance, the search for a spouse and several dramas arround relationship and marriage. Apart of wellknown songs from Naples like »Voce ‘e notte«, »I’ te vurria vasà« and the swinging »O’ surdato ‘nnammurato« also old sicilian tunes like »Si maritau Rosa« and »C’è la luna mezz’u mari« will be played.

Tarantella

On 2013/06/03 at 8 p.m. the Martino-Ensemble will perform a concert in the Behnhaus at Lübeck as part of the Klangbilderkonzerte of the Theater Lübeck. Speedy and spirited the famous Tarantella folk dance of southern Italy fascinates listeners and performers at the same time. The dance is closely related to the »Lycosa Tarentula«, a spider domiciled in the mediterranean area. Her poison is known to provoke several psychic and physical dysfunctions especially to female human beings. The Tarantella was performed for bitten victims so that they could sweat out the poison by dancing until the were totally exhausted.

Apart of famous haunting melodies like »Funiculì, Funiculà«, that was written for the opening of the funicular to the Vesuvio, or the swinging »Tarantella del mare« the Martino-Ensemble will perform tunes telling stories about joy and suffering, love and the beauty of the landscape.

In this concert the Martino-Ensemble will be enlarged by Stanislav Efaev, the solo-bassist of the Philharmonisches Orchester of the Hansestadt Lübeck.

Rahlstedter Kulturtage 2012

In the context of the Rahlstedter Kulturtage 2012 the Martino-Ensemble will give a concert on 2012/09/23 at 11 a.m. in the retirement home “Am Hegen”. The ensemble will play a well-balanced program of sicilian and neapolitan tunes to delay the arrival of autumn.
